You know, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout that CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster 38mm thing. Sounds fancy, don’t it? I don’t know much ’bout these fancy watches, but I reckon they cost a pretty penny. My grandson, he’s always on that internet thing, he told me some about it. Says it’s a big deal for people who like those shiny things on their wrists.
Seems like these Speedmaster watches, they can be real cheap or real expensive. Like, some are a few hundred bucks, and others, well, you could buy a whole car for that kind of money! He showed me pictures, said they are called special editions and some people collect them and the price goes higher and higher, I don’t know, it’s like they’re made of gold or somethin’.
This OMEGA Speedmaster 38 thing, it’s like a smaller version, I guess. That’s what my grandson said, “refined case size” is what people call it. Maybe for folks with smaller wrists? He says it’s a mix of old and new, like, they took the old style and made it with new stuff. Fancy, huh? I reckon it’s for them young folks who like old things but also like new things. It’s like me usin’ my grandma’s old quilt pattern but with new fabric. Makes sense, I guess.
They got stores for these things, all over. The young people talk about it, they say you can get ’em in big cities like Toronto or Ottawa. My grandson, he was lookin’ at somethin’ called a “flyer.” It’s like a newspaper but just for ads, I think. They say Weekly Flyer is where you find them in Canada. And they mention places like Mississauga, and some other cities I ain’t never been to, like Winnipeg and Moncton. Sounds busy.
- Some of these watches cost $500.
- Some cost $35,000. That’s a lot of money!
- Average is like $4,000, my grandson says.
- They say it’s a good “investment,” whatever that means.
There’s this other place, they call it L’ORO. Sounds Italian or somethin’. They say it’s a special place just for these OMEGA watches, they call it a “boutique,” another word I don’t understand. If you are in Canada and want a real OMEGA, they say you go there. They got all kinds, not just the Speedmaster ones. They got Seamaster too, I don’t know the difference, but my grandson, he knows, maybe he will take me there one day, who knows.
And people, they like to print photos, you know? They put ’em up on the wall, or in those scrapbooks. Like when we used to take those disposable cameras, take them to the store and print them out. I still have some of my old photos, me and your grandpa when we were young. They are getting old now, and the color is fading. So some of those printed photos are important, they are memories, you know.
My grandson, he’s always talkin’ ’bout new gadgets. He was showin’ me this thing called a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+. It’s like a small TV you can hold in your hand. He says it’s got a big screen, 11 inches, and it’s fast, whatever that means. You can use it for a long time without it dyin’, he says, and it’s got lots of “storage,” I think that’s for keepin’ pictures and stuff. He buys them from Best Buy, I think that is a store.
I don’t know much about all this new stuff, but it sounds like people are buyin’ a lot of things. These watches, these tablets, printin’ photos. Seems like folks are always spendin’ money. Back in my day, we didn’t have all this. We had a radio and a good pair of shoes, and that was enough.
But I guess times change. These CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster 38mm watches and these new-fangled gadgets, they’re a part of life now. I still don’t understand why a watch needs to cost so much. But hey, if it makes people happy, who am I to judge? Maybe I’ll ask my grandson to show me one of those Speedmaster watches up close. Might be nice to see what all the fuss is about.
Anyways, I just hope that these young folks are rememberin’ to save some money, not spend it all on fancy watches and tablets. Life’s too short to be worryin’ about money all the time. But then again, what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes her old radio and her photo albums. And I think that is enough for me.
