So, I decided to remake that Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag. You know, the one with the fancy name. First off, I looked up a bunch of pictures and descriptions online. It’s got this “crosshatched texture” that they call Saffiano leather. I started sketching it out, trying to get those sleek lines just right. They say it mixes modern style with classic Prada, whatever that means.
I found out this bag comes in different sizes and colors. They’ve got shoulder bags, mini bags, bucket bags, handbags you name it! I’m focused on the mini one, though. It’s about 18 cm x 22 cm x 6 cm, which is pretty small if you ask me.
Then, I started messing around with different types of leather. They use this Saffiano leather, which is real leather that’s been treated and stamped with a pattern. It’s different from that full-grain leather you see around. I tested out a few types, trying to match that texture. They say it’s got this enamel triangle logo and some tonal hardware, which I assume means the metal parts match the color of the bag.
- Figuring out the details:
- It’s got a top zipper, so I had to find one that looked right.
- The shoulder strap is adjustable, which is a nice touch.
- Inside, it’s got a little logo plaque and this fancy lining with a pattern.
After a lot of trial and error, I started putting the bag together. I cut the leather, carefully sewed it piece by piece, and attached the hardware. I even tried to make a little logo like the real one. It took forever, but I finally ended up with something that looked a lot like the Prada mini bag!
Was it perfect?
Nah, probably not. But it was a fun project, and I learned a lot about how these fancy bags are made. Maybe I’ll try making another one sometime, a different style or color. Who knows!
